The Sweet Cocoon

Amanda Bohannon, founder of the non-profit ‘The Sweet Cocoon,’ wanted a design and corresponding images to start fundraising for her dream — a retreat house for the families of terminally ill children. After losing her own daughter just a few years ago, Amanda had a vision to give families, who have never known a vacation due to the financial, emotional, and medial burdens required to care for their unique child, a home that was entirely ADA accessible and a haven for play. The design included a Great Room to house all common functions, a space for the volunteers to serve the family, and two wings on either side of the design to accommodate two families of up to seven people each. And most importantly to Amanda — a roll-in, covered pool that had the ability to be fully opened to the elements for summer, but still pleasant in winter.
